Based on the holiday film of the same name, this hilarious musical comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Buddy, a young orphan, crawls into Santa’s bag and winds up in the North Pole where he is raised, unaware that he is human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to discover his true identity. This modern day holiday classic is sure to bring out the true spirit of Christmas….after all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

The Marvelous Wonderettes are the entertainers at Harper’s Hardware Holiday Party and like every year, Mr. Harper is scheduled to pass out the employee bonuses. When Mr. Harper doesn’t show, one of the girls goes to find him, but instead finds what she thinks are the bonuses, but they’re not and everyone is in for a big surprise! The 60s style holiday songs include Santa Baby, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jingle Bell Rock, Winter Wonderland and more.

This family friendly event invites you to search the clues throughout core downtown and enter for a chance to win prizes! It’s a great way to explore downtown and have some fun too!
Check-in starts at 6 pm and the challenge stays open until about 8 pm. Cash prizes for four winners. Check in is at the corner of First and Hendry Streets in front of Iberia Bank. This is free to play and no purchase is necessary at participating locations.
Special thanks to Terry Tincher, downtown’s trivia guru and clue creator!

Sure, he’s the famous watermelon smasher. Yes, he literally INVENTED the television stand-up comedy special. Absolutely, 14 Showtime specials is a big deal. And certainly 3,500 live shows to capacity crowds is worth mentioning.
But how about that he is the reason they invented Comedy Central? Or that before him no one ever had that level of interaction with a live audience? Or that he was the #1 comedian (in ticket sales and ratings) for almost 15 years?

This is one of my favorite activities of the year! I hope you can join us for our Christmas Picnic in the Park!
I reserved Pavilion A-7 at Lakes Regional Park for another Picnic in the Park. Please comment what you will bring and I will update the menu on this post. We have the park all day, so we can start to gather around 11:00 and plan to eat around noon. I will bring the outdoor games and music! (Please note… there is a $5 all day parking fee). There are also a lot of great activities at the park (Cycling, fishing, gardens, miniature train rides, outdoor fitness equipment, paddleboard launch (no motorized boats), picnic areas, playgrounds, rentals (bicycle and boat), sand volleyball, splash pads, walking/running trails, wildlife viewing).. and the holiday express train will be active, so we can spend the entire day!
I hope you can come!
