“This is one of the highlights of our season. It’s so much fun! Everyone loves coming out on Monday nights. There’s always something happening that you wouldn’t expect on a weeknight,” says Melissa Tschari DeHaven, producer and co-host of TGIM and the Fort Myers Film Festival, who is excited for a full season of film.

The edgy and fresh programming for the Fort Myers Film Festival has gotten the attention of a global independent film community. Last years opening night film “Examine and report” was the world premiere for Marcus Jansen’s documentary. The previous year “Most Likely to Succeed” provided the edge in a community that embraced the award-winning film that had only played at Sundance prior to our screening to a packed house at Barbara B. Mann. The year before that “Alive Inside,” a story about how music can significantly and most positively impact those suffering with dementia and Alzheimer’s was attended by filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennett and Dan Cohen, founder of Musicandmemory.org, both from the film. It received by standing ovation, warm commendation from the Fort Myers mayor Randy Henderson and attending community. The year before “When I Walk” had, like “Alive Inside,” only played at one or two venues, including Sundance Film Festival, making the Fort Myers Film Festival heading the pack of festivals playing new and fresh films not in distribution. It too was later picked up for major distribution with stories in Time, New York Times, CNN and others picking up on the movie months after it played here in Southwest Florida.
The follow up to the hilarious Mid-Life The Crisis Musical, Midlife 2! takes us back into the middle ages once again with a hilariously tuneful look at the aches, pains, and joys of getting older. From ever-increasing trips to the doctor’s office, to the horrifying moment when one qualifies for a senior discount, the aging Baby Boomers and beyond are sure to see their lives reflected in this brand new, witty musical revue.
Put on your “Boogie Shoes” for one of the most adored dance stories of all time that captures the passion, energy and life-changing moments that have thrilled audiences for over forty years! Tony, a young man from Brooklyn, tries to escape his problems and dance his way to a better life. The Tony Award winning Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot, begins its search for the Holy Grail in the Fall of 2018. This trip to Spanish Point will feature a tram tour of the historic outdoor museum which includes the largest prehistoric archaeological sites in Florida as well as pioneer and 19th century homesteads and gardens.
We will also take a historic boat cruise in Little Sarasota Bay to see the property and surrounding area from the water.
