Celebrate the Unveiling of Sidney’s!
The new rooftop sculpture garden construction is well under way, but due to project complexities, the anticipated completion date will be later than expected. This project has grown into a major addition to our facility and the complexity has grown exponentially- tying new into old and creating an entirely unique space in Fort Myers.
Therefore, we are changing the date of our Grand Opening Gala to Thursday, April 4th, 2019.
The designing and engineering team has done a remarkable job with the vision of our rooftop, and the construction team is making it a reality as quickly as possible. It will just take a little more time than anticipated. The result will be a spectacular addition to the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, downtown Fort Myers, and the rest of Southwest Florida. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we hope to see everyone on our new rooftop sculpture garden soon.
Exposure to the cultural arts provides children and adults with the opportunities to learn, experience, and grow. As Southwest Florida develops, a well-kept venue for the arts is a increasingly important to the community. The Gala on the Rooftop will celebrate the final piece of the SBDAC puzzle: the grand opening of Sidney’s on the Rooftop.
Sidney’s on the Rooftop will be a performance and event venue that overlooks the Caloosahatchee River and downtown Fort Myers. The Gala on the Rooftop will be the unveiling of the space, scheduled to open later in 2019. The evening will include cocktails on the rooftop, a fine dining experience, live and silent auctions, and innovative music and theatrical performances.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly toward operational costs for arts education programming, art shows, concerts, and special events, plus rooftop development and maintenance. Co-chairs of the event are Dwayne Berbmann, Marc Collins, Fran Fenning, and Todd Schusterman.

A must do in the River District social scene is the monthly Art Walk. Always on the First Friday, visit the many exciting galleries, exhibitions, and performances. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials. Rain or shine, 6-10 pm.
After registering email us a clear headshot (no toys or blankets, please) of your furry child to vinospicassofm@hotmail.com and one of our talented artists will pre-sketch your canvas! We’ll provide plenty of individualized, step-by-step instruction to help you create a quality rendition of your baby. We cannot guarantee sketches on photo submissions made 2 days before the event so don’t wait!
NOTE: This is a FUN session that has been attended by novices for years. However, it does require a great attitude, too!
Paint a Heart Felt Sunset with us to support the Kindness Project created by Florida Gulf Coast University and the Lee County Homeless Coalition. Funds will be used to donate much needed supplies to the homeless in Lee County.
All artistic abilities welcome, no experience is required! All brushes, 16×20 canvas, painting supplies, paint and aprons are supplied, including step by step artistic instruction. All of our paintings are originals created by our art instructor. Enjoy painting without time limits; stay as long as you need to finish a painting that you love! Pre-register prior to the event to secure your seat. Events may be rescheduled if minimum attendance is not met, so bring your friends!
