Dames at Sea @ BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATRE
Oct 24 @ 5:30 pm

This long-running Off Broadway production that brought stardom to Bernadette Peters is a campy show based on the nostalgia of Hollywood musicals of the 30s. The New York Times called it “A Winner! A gem of a musical!” and NBC New York says “It’s delightful, and doesn’t take itself seriously for a minute…”

Dames at Sea is a tap dance-filled musical parody of the golden era of Hollywood musicals! Ruby heads to New York to become the next Broadway star, but after landing a job in the chorus, her dreams are almost shattered when the theatre is set for demolition. With the help of two sailors, the show is moved to their ship and when the leading lady becomes sick, Ruby has the chance to jump in and save the day! Hear Broadway Baby, Choo-Choo Honeymoon, Dames at Sea and more!

Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. 2nd Annual Wicked Walk @ The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center
Oct 24 @ 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Wicked Walk is a collaborative project between the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, the Sidney and Berne Davis Arts Center and Lee County Public Schools. The project highlights the talents of students and teachers within the arts programs in Lee County. The project is also being used to help develop funding, support and awareness for arts programs in our public schools.

Wicked Walk creates a tour through the Sidney Berne Davis Arts Center where participants interact and experience the visual and performing arts right before their eyes. The historic arts center is transformed for the event as high school fine and performing arts teams create site specific work exploring the theme for the year. This year’s theme gives teams the opportunity to explore movie, literature, musical theatre and music visual and performing art surrounding classic tales of horror. Interpretations may run the spectrum from comedic to melodramatic to romantic.

During the Wicked Walk event, students will perform in various areas of the Center as the audience tours through. Tours start at 15-minute intervals and groups perform either 5- or 10-minute presentations. There will be 13 building tours during the event.

All schools participating will receive a portion of the proceeds from the event based on the number of students and teachers involved.

Alcohol – A History, Guest Speaker Adrian Kerr @ IMAG History & Science Center
Oct 24 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join us for our first Distinguished Speaker Event: ‘Alcohol – A History’ on October 24th! Our first topic will be on prohibition since October 28, 2019 marks the 100th year since prohibition was enacted.

We will journey from the beginnings of civilization and review how alcoholic beverages grew up across the world. We will explore alcohol consumption across the world and the how alcohol effects human behavior. We will also review the various constraints that over the years have been introduced to restrict the use of alcohol. Some have been successful and others, like prohibition in the US from 1920 to 1933, not only failed but gave rise to perhaps something worse; the growth of organized crime. For local lore, we will look enjoy stories of Whiskey Creek’s moonshiners and Caribbean rum runners. Local Distillery, Wicked Dolphin, will offer a signature cocktail to sip during the event and rum tastings for all attendees.

October 24th
6:00pm to 8:00pm
Light refreshments provided. The museum will also be open for exploration.

Cost: Members: $15
Non-Members: $20
