Happy New Year!
Greet the New Year with Nature and a chance to meet other hikers from the Fisheating Creek/ Florida Trails Association chapter.

It is suggested to wear good walking shoes, bring sunscreen, water sunglasses and a hat. And of course binoculars and camera!
We will meet at the entrance at 9 a.m. There is a parking fee of $5 per day. (Lee County Parks permit will cover)

Grumpy Old Men @ BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATRE

Based in Minnesota, the musical adaptation of the popular 1993 Warner Bros. film tells the laugh-out-loud story of family, friendship, love and romance. Grumpy Old Men centers around neighbors, Max and John, two grumpy retirees’ whose verbal, and sometimes physical, altercations date back to their high school days. The rivalry reaches its peak when the beautiful, eccentric, and charming Ariel moves into the neighborhood. Chaos, and laughter, ensues as deep-rooted feuds are reopened, but with the help of Ariel’s love and compassion, Max and John have a chance to be re-united in friendship.

Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival

At the Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival, hungry festival-goers will flock to enjoy a delicious array of seafood ranging from Cajun-style crawfish to raw bars. Over the course of three days, January 3-5, 2020, thousands will flock to Fort Myers, Florida. The festival’s beer garden, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, live music, arts & crafts as well as a variety of attractions for folks of all ages.

FREE General Admission! HOURS: Friday evening 4pm – 10pm, Saturday 11am – 10pm and Sunday 11am – 6pm LOCATION: Fort Myers River District.

While eating, listen to the captivating sounds of live musical performances on stage by some of Florida’s and the region’s top musical talents from such genres as R&B, jazz, rock, reggae and Caribbean sounds. Performers in 2020 will be, on Friday: RJ Howson (R&B, blues, rock), JP Soars & The Red Hots (soul, blues), Fleetwood Max (Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band). Saturday performances include: Bryan Spainhower (Musica Eclectica: fusion of flamenco, jazz, rock and country), Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio (rock, soul), Billy Rice Band (country rock), Ari & The Alibis (funk, jazz, samba), and Aretha Franklin Tribute Band. Performers on Sunday will be: West Coast Steel Pan Band (jazz, Caribbean), The Verge (classic rock 70’s to present) and Reverend Barry & The Funk (funk, soul). Half Day of Mindfulness @ Lakes Park
Jan 4 @ 9:00 am – 12:30 pm

Our mindful morning will include practices of outdoor sitting and outdoor walking meditation. We will conclude our morning with a circle of “Deep Listening and Deep Sharing”as we form our intentions to continue our practice of mindful living into our daily life.

Please bring a blanket, beach towel, cushion, or folding chair so we can sit under a tree in the shade for meditation. Please also be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, and anything you might need to spend a few hours outdoors. Feel free to bring a packed lunch to enjoy an optional lunch with the sangha afterwards.

The Botanical Gardens are located in the North section of the park. When you enter, go to the right and park by the community garden. Look for a sign saying “Community Garden”. One of our sangha brothers or sisters will be waiting there to help guide you to the botanical gardens.
