Chris MacDonald’s Memories of Elvis Rockin’ Birthday Bash @ Barbara B. Mann - Performing Arts Hall
Jan 8 @ 7:30 pm

Celebrate the life and music of Elvis Presley with Chris MacDonald’s Memories of Elvis Rockin’ Birthday Bash, a dynamic full production tribute that shares the incredible story of “the shy humble country boy who became the King of Rock-N-Roll” with costume changes, songs and video clips highlighting several stages of The King’s iconic career including The Early Years, The Movies, The Black Leather ’68 Comeback and The White Fringe ’70 Vegas Concerts.

With this national touring production, you are in for a big Las Vegas-style show with a dynamic 8 piece band, singers and dancers, as Chris MacDonald draws his audience in with the look, sounds, and nuances that made Elvis “The King”. An accomplished and experienced entertainer, Chris has performed in Vegas, Branson, and with the famous Legends in Concert stage productions. He has also headlined with Elvis’ own original backup group, the Jordanaires, and D.J Fontana at the famous Hard Rock Live Concert Arena. Adding to the authenticity of his tribute, Chris has the ultimate honor of being the “Only Tribute Artist hired by Elvis Presley Enterprises to perform at Graceland’s Heartbreak Hotel”. “The show is not a parody or an overdone impersonation. There is a true understanding of what Elvis did best, connecting with his music and the heart of his audience. It is a natural, heartfelt tribute to an American Icon and his music”.

Join us for a fun filled night of great songs and memories as we celebrate the life and music of the King of Rock-n-Roll.

Love Cannot Alter It @ Cape Coral Art Center
Jan 10 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Cape Coral Art Center is proud to feature this solo exhibit by artist Leila Mesdaghi entitled Love Cannot Alter It.

Leila Mesdaghi is an Iranian-Colombian Artist living in Fort Myers, Florida. To her, making art is a combination of emotional experiences and social responsibilities. Leila seeks to connect with her viewers in a visceral, evocative, and emotional manner; she stands on uncomfortable grounds and challenges how we observe, react, respond, and ease into conversations that take us to vulnerable places that possibly hold our understandings.

In “Love Cannot Alter It,” a title inspired by a sentence from Anne Carson’s book “Nox,” Leila thinks about the “emotionscapes” of fears of abandonment, physically and psychologically. To her, sometimes the only choice we have is to sit with our pain, embrace ourselves, and experience aloneness. Facing what we fear and maneuvering through the narrow paths of not knowing leads us to deeper places that will become familiar.
This exhibition is an invitation to look into things we cannot change, words we cannot take back, and feelings that hold us back. —

The exhibit will be on display January 3 thru January 23. A reception to view the exhibit and meet the artist will be held on Friday, January 10 from 5:00-7:00.
