Grumpy Old Men @ BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATRE

Based in Minnesota, the musical adaptation of the popular 1993 Warner Bros. film tells the laugh-out-loud story of family, friendship, love and romance. Grumpy Old Men centers around neighbors, Max and John, two grumpy retirees’ whose verbal, and sometimes physical, altercations date back to their high school days. The rivalry reaches its peak when the beautiful, eccentric, and charming Ariel moves into the neighborhood. Chaos, and laughter, ensues as deep-rooted feuds are reopened, but with the help of Ariel’s love and compassion, Max and John have a chance to be re-united in friendship.

HAMILTON is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.  Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, HAMILTON is the story of America then, as told by America now.

 

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex LacamoireHAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

 

The HAMILTON creative team previously collaborated on the 2008 Tony Award ® Winning Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS.

 

HAMILTON features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, and casting by Telsey + Company, Bethany Knox, CSA.

MLK MARCH AND PARK CELEBRATION @ Centennial Park

Stepping, Dancing, Singing, BBQ, Seafood, Social Services and Local Businesses vendors are just some of the things you will see as you enter Centennial Park on MLK Day. The Park Celebration is an opportunity for families, organizations and non-profits, to gather and enjoy a great time. The Alliance for the Arts, Junior League of Fort Myers, Lee County Black History or just some of the supporters that will be doing activities at the Park. Certain vendors are a mainstay and we look forward to having them. Those such as Friendship COGIC, Fort Myers NOW, Southern SnoBalls, New Life Academy and a few others. We look forward to those returning from last year and many new ones this year. The Commenorative March begins at the Dunbar Jupiter Hammon Library. Marchers will gather near the corner of Blount and High Street and proceed down MLK into Centennial Park singing hymms and old civil rights chants. n Park Celebration: The community and vendors gather to enjoy stage performances and presentations. Food and informational vendors are throughout the park.
